And love can be reduced to the seed of identity. It can be stamped on the pages of a passport, it can climb the steps of an airplane, leaving its marks on the colors of a flag. Love can even idolize the “Hashtag” as a god. Those who leave blindly believe in a ritual: opening those pages upon arrival so that the seed may sprout and bear fruit. But they look back at the shore they left behind and are aware that remnants of stubborn roots still intertwine. For this artist, emigration is founded on a triad: Love-Happiness-Frustration, a triad that soars on a carpet. This triptych by Manuel Cuevas Vidueiro attests to all of this, a work that compresses anxieties and dreams, states of grace of the spirit, hanging and even dependent on social networks. Here lies one of the strengths of this artist: the high capacity for synthesis to summarize features of corrosive existentialism.
